CG SCHOOL'S BOERIE BRAAI CHALLENGE COMPETITION
Bring the flavour. Bring the gees.
Think your school has what it takes to serve the ultimate Heritage-inspired boerie roll?
CapeGate Shopping Centre is inviting high schools from Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Durbanville to enter the CG School's Boerie Braai Challenge. Four schools will be selected to compete in the live finale on Saturday, 5 September 2026, where they'll battle it out for school pride, fantastic prizes and the chance to win R20 000 cash for their school.
Who Can Enter?
The competition is open exclusively to high schools located in:
- Kraaifontein
- Brackenfell
- Durbanville
Only four schools will be selected to compete in the live event.
How to Enter:
Email your entry to marketing@capegatecentre.co.za between 12 June and 7 August 2026.
Your entry must include:
- Your school's Heritage-inspired boerie roll recipe.
- Your team details (maximum of 10 people on site at any one time).
- Who will be responsible for each role on the day.
- The ingredients and inspiration behind your boerie roll.
- The selling price of your boerie rolls.
- How your school plans to bring the gees and rally supporters.
- Your stand theme and décor concept.
- What your school would use the prize money for if you win.
Please note: Cheer squads are encouraged to support their school but may not assist with preparing or selling boerie rolls.
Competition Timeline
- Entries open: 12 June 2026
- Entries close: 7 August 2026
- Selected schools notified: 12 August 2026
- Live finale: Saturday, 5 September 2026 at CapeGate Shopping Centre
Judging
During the live event, schools will be judged on:
- Best Gees
- Best Looking Stand
- Best Taste
- Top Sales (based on the total number of boerie rolls sold)
These scores will be combined to determine the overall winning school.
Prizes
Category Winners
Each of the following category winners will receive a R2 500 CapeGate Gift Card for their school:
- Best Gees
- Best Looking Stand
- Best Taste
- Top Sales
Overall Winner
The school with the highest combined score will win R20 000 cash from CapeGate Shopping Centre to support school initiatives and needs.
